Why a Modular Shipping Office is the Right Choice for You

Posted on Updated on

SAMSUNGIf you are in the market for an easy way to add covered space to construction or manufacturing sites there are several ways you can achieve this new space.

  1. Traditional Construction
  2. A Modular Unit

Both options provide excellent benefits. To help you determine which type of structure would be most beneficial for your situation, we’ve compared traditional structures and modular units specifically for businesses that need more flexibility in use and location. Typically these companies work at construction sites or fairgrounds and benefit from having a more flexible alternative for structures.

No matter what business you are in, opting for a pre-manufactured product is a great option. The low cost, flexibility and time-saving procedures outweigh most of the benefits of traditional structures. Here are a few reasons a modular design maybe beneficial for your company.

Flexibility

While both units have their benefits, in many cases a modular unit will better serve your needs. A reliable modular shipping office is a great alternative to traditional buildings because they are much faster, cheaper and can even be moved if required.

This can be particularly convenient if you plan to move sites any time in the future. A modular design can easily be deconstructed or even transported whole to a new location. For companies and organizations that need to use the building temporarily this can also be beneficial. You can move the building to your desired location and store it or move it elsewhere when you don’t need to use it.

With traditional construction this is not possible. For companies that need flexibility, the only good option is one that allows you to move your unit.

Save Time and Money

When you need to secure items at an off-site shipping office, opting for a modular structure is often the best choice. Because they are cheaper to construct, you’ll save money and time. Our portable units can often ship in as little as two days. Depending on the specific structure you choose, you can have the units shipped to you already constructed which means you’ll simply need to install them where you want them and they’ll be ready to use.

We are able to do this because we can create the pieces for your unit quickly. Our trained technicians are skilled at creating your customized design so that your prefabricated unit doesn’t feel prefabricated.

For many business owners the shipping office price can play a huge role in whether or not the additional space is feasible. When you opt for a modular structure you ensure a lower cost so that you can get the extra space you need for less.

Traditional structures require more time to build, they also cost more. If money and/or time are a factor for your needs, Panel Built can help you get the structure you want, when you want it. Let us help you save time and money by creating the perfect modular system for your business.

Protection and Durability

If you are in the market for a shipping office building, you obviously need a space that will provide protection from the elements for your staff and/or materials. You can get the same protection from a modular unit as with a traditional structure. Our units are completely customizable, which means that you can add HVAC options, different styles of windows, doors and locks to ensure that both your employees and your material stays safe from bad weather and bad guys.

If you care concerned about durability, you’ll be happy to know that modular designs are extremely durably. Specifically our portable units that are built offsite are designed to withstand transportation to different locations. These means that the buildings often have to be built to withstand much more than traditional buildings. The safety and protection of your staff and supplies is top priority with us, which means you will get a quality structure designed to last.

Custom Options

shipping office buildingJust because you opt for a pre-manufactured unit doesn’t mean the space has to feel cookie cutter. We offer several different colors, layouts and interior options to help make your mobile office feel cozier. While we know this may be merely cosmetic for some, the ability to make an employee feel comfortable in their work environment can actually increase productivity and work environment satisfaction.

Your units can be hooked up to electric and heating and cooling options so that your staff can do everything they need to do as they would in a traditional structure. From simple designs to slightly more complex units, we have what you need. Let us help you create the perfect working environment for your needs.

Project Picture of the Month – June 2012

Panel Built, Inc. Goes Solar!

June 15th marked the unveiling of Panel Built’s most recent addition to their product line, with an event that did not disappoint. The manufacturer of modular building components has always been considered a “green” company because of the pre-fabrication methods used to produce their products. Now, with the addition of two solar power generating structures to their facility, Panel Built has taken the phrase “Modular is Green” to a whole new level.

About five months ago, a decision was made to integrate solar power production into the Panel Built facilities as a way to supplement our energy consumption as well as showcase our newest product line. Plans were made, schedules set, and Panel Built, Inc. is now generating power from the sun!

The first phase of the project was a major makeover for the Panel Built “store front” which now includes approximately 3,500 square feet of solar parking canopy. The structural steel for the solar array was fabricated by our steel line, and the installation was performed by a Panel Built install crew. The canopy also acts as covered parking and is expected to produce approximately 67,000 kwh/year.

Phase two of the solar project includes another solar canopy, this time doubling as a storage area for powder-coated steel waiting to be shipped to the customer. Not only will this improve material flow at Panel Built, but the nearly 4,800 square feet of solar panels will produce enough energy in a day, week, or year to power approximately 9 average sized house for that same amount of time.

For those interested in solar power, there are incredible government incentives right now that allow a significant reduction in total cost of a solar project. Combine this with the savings created by making your own solar energy, and it’s hard not see solar as a win-win.

April 2012 – Camp Fogarty

Sold by Adam McPherson in November 2011, this 8’x8′ pre-assembled building has an interesting story behind it. Originally shipped late January, the building was involved in a hit-and-run accident on the way to the customer. The building was brought back to Panel Built and completely rebuilt to ensure our customer received a quality product.

The building was re-shipped and was crane-lifted atop the 30′ powder-coated steel tower. The cage ladder was bolted on and the tower became functional on the same day it arrived.

Every month we have a contest for the best photo of a recent Panel Built project.  This contest is open to everyone, including our customers, our distributors and our install crews. The winner will receive a $25 gift card.

If you have some great pictures of a recent project by Panel Built, send your digital image toinfo@panelbuilt.com for your chance to win.

Pictures become the property of Panel Built, Inc. and may be used in future Marketing endeavors.

GSA Contractor Team Arrangement

Posted on Updated on

One of the major benefits of the GSA program is the ability to “team” with another GSA Contract holder.

Under a Contractor Team Arrangement (CTA), two or more GSA Schedule contractors work together to meet ordering activity needs. By complementing each other’s capabilities, the team offers a total solution to the ordering activity’s requirement, providing a “win-win” situation for all parties.

By completing a CTA, both the vendor and customer benefit. The customer can purchase the total solution rather than making separate buys for each part of a requirement, as well as satisfy socio-economic procurement goals. On the other side, the vendors benefit from being able to compete for orders for which they wouldn’t otherwise qualify.

Unlike a Prime Contractor / Sub Contractor arrangement, both vendors must have the appropriate GSA Schedules. Both parties can interact with the government; and consequently, the responsibility of the project is shared among the two vendors.

While this may seem like a risk, creating CTA’s with reputable vendors who represent complimentary products can be a “game-changer” when it comes to GSA sales. With our extensive line of GSA products; including in-plant offices, guard stations, structural steel mezzanines, and towers, Panel Built offers a great opportunity to increase your GSA market share. Visit Panel Built GSA Page or GSA Teaming Page for more information, or call Ramona Walker to discuss “teaming” opportunities.
